Daily Light Devotions - October 16 - Morning

Not slothful in business; ... serving the Lord.

Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 1 

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going. 2 

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 3 

knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. 4 

We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. 5 

And he said to them, "Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?" 6 

His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me." 7 

Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to confirm your calling and election, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 8 

And we desire each one of you to show the same earnestness to have the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 9 

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 10
