I am ... the bright and morning Star

Bagster's Daily Light - February 6 - Evening

I am ... the bright and morning Star.

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star." 1

I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth. 2

The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 3

Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, turn, my beloved, be like a gazelle or a young stag on cleft mountains. 4

The oracle concerning Dumah. One is calling to me from Seir, "Watchman, what time of the night? Watchman, what time of the night?" The watchman says: "Morning comes, and also the night. If you will inquire, inquire; come back again." 5

Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." 6

and he will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from my Father. 7

Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake--for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning-- lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake." 8
