Every thing that may abide in the fire ...

everything that can stand the fire, you shall pass through the fire, and it shall be clean. Nevertheless, it shall also be purified with the water for impurity. And whatever cannot stand the fire, you shall pass through the water.  1

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the LORD your God is testing you, to know whether you love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.  2

He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the LORD.  3

each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.  4

I will turn my hand against you and will smelt away your dross as with lye and remove all your alloy. 5

Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts: "Behold, I will refine them and test them, for what else can I do, because of my people? 6

For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried. you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance. 7

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. 8
