Daily Light Devotions - August 18 - Evening

He that glorifieth, let him glory in the Lord.

so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." 1 

Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD." 2 

Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ 3 

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 4 

In Christ Jesus, then, I have reason to be proud of my work for God. 5 

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. 6 

And Hannah prayed and said, "My heart exults in the LORD; my horn is exalted in the LORD. My mouth derides my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation. 7 

Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to your name give glory, for the sake of your steadfast love and your faithfulness! 8
