He hath prepared for them a city

Daily Light Devotions - August 13 - Morning

He hath prepared for them a city.

But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. 1 

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 2 

to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 3 

For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. 4 

and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven." 5 

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. 6 

For, "Yet a little while, and the coming one will come and will not delay; 7 

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words. 8
