My meditation of Him shall be sweet ...

May my meditation be pleasing to him, for I rejoice in the LORD. 1 

As an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. With great delight I sat in his shadow, and his fruit was sweet to my taste. 2 

For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD, 3

My beloved is radiant and ruddy, distinguished among ten thousand. 4 

who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it. 5 

and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood 6 

His head is the finest gold; his locks are wavy, black as a raven. 7 

And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 8 

And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 9 

His cheeks are like beds of spices, mounds of sweet-smelling herbs. His lips are lilies, dripping liquid myrrh. 10 

And from there he arose and went away to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered a house and did not want anyone to know, yet he could not be hidden. 11
