Daily Light Devotions - September 28 - Morning

They shall put my name upon the children ...

"So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them." 1 

O LORD our God, other lords besides you have ruled over us, but your name alone we bring to remembrance. 2 

We have become like those over whom you have never ruled, like those who are not called by your name. Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence-- 3

And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you. 4 

For the LORD will not forsake his people, for his great name's sake, because it has pleased the LORD to make you a people for himself. 5 

O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name." 6 

Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of your name; deliver us, and atone for our sins, for your name's sake! Why should the nations say, "Where is their God?" Let the avenging of the outpoured blood of your servants be known among the nations before our eyes! 7 

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. 8
