Daily Light Devotions - September 20 - Evening
Poor, yet making many rich.
as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, yet possessing everything. 1
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich. 2
For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 3
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 4
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. 5
Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 7
But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8
