Ye are the salt of the earth

Daily Light Devotions - September 13 - Evening

Ye are the salt of the earth.

"You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. 1

but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious. 2

since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God; 3

Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, 4

for they cannot die anymore, because they are equal to angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection. 5

and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. 6

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. 7

So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. 8

Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another." 9

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 10
