Daily Light Devotions - September 5 - Morning
As the body is one, and hath many members ...
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 1
And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 2
And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. 3
because we are members of his body. 4
Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, "Sacrifices and offerings you have not desired, but a body have you prepared for me; 5
Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them. 6
"I have manifested your name to the people whom you gave me out of the world. Yours they were, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. 7
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love 8
For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 9
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. 10
