... Take up his cross daily, and follow me.

And he said to all, "If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. 1 

through honor and dishonor, through slander and praise. We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; 2

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 3 

But if I, brothers, still preach circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been removed. 4 

For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. 5 

If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. But let none of you suffer as a murderer or a thief or an evildoer or as a meddler. Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name. 6 

For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake, 7 

For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. 8 

if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us; 9
