Daily Light Devotions - July 14 - Morning
Of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 1
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 2
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. 3
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits. 4
The mouth of the righteous utters wisdom, and his tongue speaks justice. The law of his God is in his heart; his steps do not slip. 5
Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. 6
for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard." 7
I believed, even when I spoke: "I am greatly afflicted"; 8
So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 9
For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 10
