We know that we have passed from death unto life.

We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. 1 

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. 2 

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. 3 

And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee. 4 

By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him; Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; 5 

We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one. 6 

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- 7 

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 8
