Seek those things which are above ...

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 1 

Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. 2 

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 3 

The deep says, 'It is not in me,' and the sea says, 'It is not with me.' 4 

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. 5 

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 6 

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ--by grace you have been saved-- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 

For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. 8 

Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, who do his just commands; seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the LORD. 9
