Then cometh the end

Daily Light Devotions - July 23 - Morning

Then cometh the end.

Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 1 

"But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake." 2 

The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance. 3 

You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door. 4 

He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 5 

Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 6 

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. 7 

"Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning, and be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast, so that they may open the door to him at once when he comes and knocks. 8
