Daily Light Devotions - July 29 - Morning
Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens ...
We have become like those over whom you have never ruled, like those who are not called by your name. Oh that you would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence-- 1
Make haste, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices. 2
And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 3
Bow your heavens, O LORD, and come down! Touch the mountains so that they smoke! 4
and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven." 5
so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. 6
It will be said on that day, "Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation." 7
He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! 8
waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 9
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 10
