As a man traveling into a far country

Daily Light Devotions - March 26 - Morning

... as a man traveling into a far country ...

"For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. 1

Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? 2

All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 3

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: 4
Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found trustworthy. 5

But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more. 6

to one a fragrance from death to death, to the other a fragrance from life to life. Who is sufficient for these things? 7

I can do all things through him who strengthens me. 8
