Daily Light Devotions - April 25 - Morning
Thou shalt call his name JESUS ...
She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." 1
You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. 2
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 3
Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. 4
But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned--every one--to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. 5
and said to them, "Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 6
for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 7
God exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 8
Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.9
I am writing to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven for his name's sake. 10
