Leaning on Jesus' bosom

Daily Light Devotions - July 4 - Morning

Leaning on Jesus' bosom.

One of his disciples, whom Jesus loved, was reclining at table at Jesus' side, 1

As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. 2

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. 3

Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way." 4

For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. 5

In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them; in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; he lifted them up and carried them all the days of old. 6

"I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 7

"Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. 8

For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." 9
