The city had no need of the sun

Daily Light Devotions - May 26 - Evening

The city had no need of the sun ...

And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. 1

At midday, O king, I saw on the way a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, that shone around me and those who journeyed with me. And I said, 'Who are you, Lord?' And the Lord said, 'I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. 2

And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3

The sun shall be no more your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give you light; but the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun shall no more go down, nor your moon withdraw itself; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and your days of mourning shall be ended. 4

And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 5
