Daily Light Devotions - May 23 - Evening
On that night could not the king sleep.
On that night the king could not sleep. And he gave orders to bring the book of memorable deeds, the chronicles, and they were read before the king. 1
You hold my eyelids open; I am so troubled that I cannot speak. 2
Who is like the LORD our God, who is seated on high, who looks far down on the heavens and the earth? 3
all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and he does according to his will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, "What have you done?" 4
Your way was through the sea, your path through the great waters; yet your footprints were unseen. 5
Surely the wrath of man shall praise you; the remnant of wrath you will put on like a belt. 6
For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to give strong support to those whose heart is blameless toward him. You have done foolishly in this, for from now on you will have wars." 7
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 8
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. 9
