How great is thy goodness

Daily Light Devotions - May 25 - Morning

How great is thy goodness ...

Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind! 1

From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides you, who acts for those who wait for him. 2

But, as it is written, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him"-- these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. 3

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. 4

How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings. They feast on the abundance of your house, and you give them drink from the river of your delights. For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. 5

for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. 6
